AsiaWorld-Expo, Asia’s leading exhibition and convention venue, is pleased to announce that it has been named ‘Best Exhibition and Convention Centre’ in the 10th CAPITAL Outstanding Enterprise Awards. Organised by CAPITAL, South China Media, the awards are designed to recognise Hong Kong’s most vibrant and forward-looking businesses, honouring them both for their achievements and for their contribution to the local economy.
To win this award, AsiaWorld-Expo underwent a three-stage judging process. It was first evaluated according to a fixed set of criteria, including its marketing strategies, technology, environmental-friendliness, training and customer service. A panel of judges and CAPITAL’s editorial board then rated the venue’s performance, supplemented by public voting that further underscores AsiaWorld-Expo’s position as a valued member of the Hong Kong community. While AsiaWorld-Expo is still a very young venue, it has been working restlessly to enhance the service quality and supporting facilities. In this award, AsiaWorld-Expo have been given a big thumbs up by the judging panel and the public.
“We are honoured to receive this award in recognition of our commitment to Hong Kong’s MICE industry,” said Allen Ha, Chief Executive Officer, AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited. “It is especially meaningful this year, as AsiaWorld-Expo celebrates its 5th anniversary. Looking ahead, we will continue working hard to ensure the highest standards in every aspect of our business operations, from staff training to customer support. In so doing, we will proudly play our part in making Hong Kong’s exhibition and convention industry a leader in the region and around the globe.”
Since opening at the end of 2005, AsiaWorld-Expo has been committed to continuously enhancing and improving its facilities and service quality. Indeed, in a consumer survey, AsiaWorld-Expo improved its rating from 6.5 in 2006 to an astonishing 8.6 in 2009 (10 is the highest). In another survey conducted by an independent market survey company, Acorn Marketing and Research Consultants in mid-2009, over 90% of exhibitors and buyers rated the services at AsiaWorld-Expo as “satisfactory to excellent”, further underscoring the superb industry reputation that AsiaWorld-Expo now enjoys.
In the last four years, AsiaWorld-Expo has attracted numerous mega shows that simply couldn’t have come to Hong Kong before. These include the hugely popular China Sourcing Fairs, which now feature over 14,000 exhibitors and more than 144,000 trade visitors each year, as well as the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair, which is co-hosted at AsiaWorld-Expo and is now the world’s largest jewellery fair. In hosting these and numerous other events, AsiaWorld-Expo has experienced tremendous growth while the shows also recorded a significant increase in visitor numbers.
In 2010, AsiaWorld-Expo is continuing to build on this success with a diverse range of MICE events, many of which draw on Hong Kong’s unrivalled reputation for bringing together quality suppliers and buyers from around the globe. Upcoming high-profile events include the latest China Sourcing Fairs, and the 2010 Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair. Another highly anticipated event is CARTES in Asia, a three-day conference and exhibition that brings together smart-technology industry leaders. This major event also marks the first time that world-renowned CARTES has held an event in Asia. Later this year, in November 2010, AsiaWorld-Expo is proud to welcome another unique event, the Railway Interiors Expo 2010, which is the only international exhibition and Open Technology and Ideas Forum devoted to railcar and mass transit interiors, passenger services and comfort.
In addition to world-class exhibitions, AsiaWorld-Expo is making a name for itself with its new AsiaWorld-Summit, a dedicated conference and banquet venue capable of holding events from 700 to 5,000 attendees. In 2009 alone, this innovative venue played host to many regional and international conferences and hospitality events, including the Conference on Information and Knowledge Management 2009; The Sino-International Freight Forwarders Conference 2009; 2009 Sunrider Asia Convention; Hong Kong Fire Conference 2009 and First World Conference of Endoscopy Physicians (19th General Assembly Session of Chinese Endoscopy Physicians) / First World Endoscopy Technology Expo among many others. Drawing on the increased number of hotel rooms that are now available in the vicinity, 2010 is set to be another busy year at AsiaWorld-Summit. Upcoming internationally-acclaimed events at the venue include the Global Mayors Forum (5-7 November 2010), and The 6th UITP Asia-Pacific Congress and UITP International Conference on Public Transport Financing (15-19 November 2010).
