I joined the Management Associate Programme of AsiaWorld-Expo after graduating from university. The programme gave me the opportunity to take on different challenges in different departments, including Event Planning and Management, Business Development and Customer Services. These diverse roles have broadened my skillset and given me the solid foundation and professional network to develop my career in the event industry.
Joining AWE is an eye-opening experience especially for a fresh graduate like me. I have planned and managed events on a scale and complexity that not many people have the chance to come across. These range from international trade fairs and mega conferences, to superstar concerts. I work to provide an authentic experience for the attendees by coordinating an initial idea and following it all the way through to a successful conclusion. AWE has also offered me incredible support in developing my career. They have sent me for oversea training in Singapore to join a Stage Management Workshop, and given me the chance to speak at corporate conferences. These experiences have been life-changing for me, and incredibly rewarding for my team.
There is a saying in our industry that “The pace of events always outruns that of your plan.” This is very true and at AWE, I have learned to utilise my creativity, and organisation and communication skills to become a real event management professional. At the same time, I have experienced the deep spirit of collaboration, which is the key driver of AWE in moving forward to new heights.
