Asia’s leading exhibition, convention and events venue, AsiaWorld-Expo, is poised to welcome many more visitors in the coming months with a packed schedule of public shows that promise action, inspiration and pleasure for all the family. Building on the success of last year’s ‘Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival’ Exhibition, which welcomed almost one million visitors, AsiaWorld-Expo is once again proving that it’s Hong Kong’s foremost destination for unbeatable leisure experiences.
This thrilling programme of events will kick off from 8-17 July 2011 with the Super Inflatable Game Carnival 2011 - The Family World Tour. This mammoth event is Hong Kong’s first-ever indoor inflatable carnival with a global travel theme. During the event, visitors of all ages can tour the world via a series of inflatable games representing different countries. A highlight of the event is a 72m-long inflatable game entitled ‘The Great Wall of China’. The event will even be filing an application to The Guinness Book of Records for the world’s biggest inflatable game and biggest inflatable event! Kids and families won’t want to miss this record-breaking fun. For more information, please visit: www.i-carnival.com.hk.
From 22-24 July 2011, AsiaWorld-Expo will play host to the Better Living Expo - for Beauty & Well-Being, Hobbies & Learning, Back-to-School and Value Shopping. This giant public show comprises four separate shows, all conveniently held under one roof, showcasing the latest products and services for Beauty & Well-Being, Hobbies & Learning, Back-to-School, and Value Shopping. Co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Paper Communication Exhibition Services, this informative and valuable event offers such a rich diversity of information for better living, it’s sure to attract a wide range of visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The event will also feature a Daily Super Lucky Draw and a Value Shopping Contest designed to help visitors become smarter shoppers. For more information, please visit www.hktdc.com.
“The success of our ‘Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival’ Exhibition was widely recognised by industry players, and many event organisers, particularly for public shows, subsequently contacted AsiaWorld-Expo to discuss future opportunities,” remarked Allen Ha, Chief Executive Officer, AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited. “In the coming years, public shows of this sort will continue to be one of the focuses of AsiaWorld-Expo as part of its diversified business development strategy. In addition to being a trade-event venue of global renown, AsiaWorld-Expo is welcoming over 40 concert and public show days just in the first three quarters of 2011, which represents a 188% increase from the same period in 2010.”
Whether it’s for conferences, exhibitions or entertainment and cultural experiences, AsiaWorld-Expo is a venue without equal in the region. Its state-of-the-art facilities make it an unparalleled choice for concerts and events, while an enhanced network of transportation ensures that residents from a wide range of areas can quickly, easily and affordably reach the venue. This extensive transportation network now includes A-route airport buses and a new X1 point-to-point express bus service from and to Tung Chung MTR station, as well as privileged same-day return fares on the Airport Express, and a valet parking service.
In particular, the introduction of the X1 point-to-point express bus service (running between Tung Chung MTR Station and AsiaWorld-Expo) since November 2010 has won a thumbs up from the public, enabling visitors to use the extensive MTR network to enjoy the wide range of events on offer at AsiaWorld-Expo as well as the vibrant shopping and dining experience in Tung Chung. There has also been an increase in cross-border visitors from Southern China attending concerts at AsiaWorld-Expo. Mr Lin Chung Fai, General Manager, Eternal East Bus remarked, “Cross border coach and limousine services at AsiaWorld-Expo allow direct and convenient connections with Mainland China. It’s noteworthy that the venue has experienced a 30% increase in the number of people who travel from Southern China to attend local and international concerts. In the years ahead, we expect this figure to increase significantly as AsiaWorld-Expo benefits from the Government’s new cross-boundary transport infrastructure.”
In response to its improved accessibility and solid track record of hosting highly successful concerts and entertainment events in past years, AsiaWorld-Expo is going to play host to a good number of live music performances including a concert by the award-winning English singer-songwriter James Blunt (7 August 2011); the first-ever Hong Kong performance and this year’s only performance in Asia by American rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers (9 August 2011); an eagerly-awaited concert by the 90s Brit-Pop band Suede (11 August 2011); the arrival of American rock band Paramore (14 August 2011) whose chart-topping songs have featured in the hit Twilight movies; the return of Canadian punk outfit Simple Plan (16 August 2011) and the long-awaited return of global smash-hit phenomenonLinkin Park (6 September 2011). Apart from international super stars, the Loud Festival 2011 – Hong Kong, featuring popular Hong Kong and Taiwanese singers led by Jay Chou along with Sodagreen, Landy Wen and Cindy Yen, will be held on 20 August 2011.
